07:21 AM ET 09.27 | As it turns out, Lexington won't be hosting Tyus Jones for now. [Herald-Leader] will not take an official visit to Kentucky this weekend as previously planned, his mother told the Herald-Leader on Thursday. The five-star point guard has already taken an official visit to Baylor and is scheduled to take official trips to Kansas and Duke next month. Debbie Jones did not say whether her son is still considering the Wildcats. [Jones] is considered one of the top-five overall prospects in the Class of 2014. ... Jahlil Okafor -- the consensus No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2014 -- has long said that he wants to play for the same college team as Jones. The two players visited Baylor together and will also take their official trips to Kansas and Duke at the same time.

It's a negotiating ploy.

Duke is the only sensible choice.

End the one and one so kids can go straight to the NBA. Quit screwing up college hoops.

One and one? Why? That is a great training tool where a player learns to handle the ball, create his own shot, rebound etc. How does that screw up college hoops?

They don't stay long enough for the fans to connect with them.
They don't stay long enough for fans of opposing teams to develop dislike for them.

Wear the orange & white, son. Play for Tennessee. Better barbeque than those other places.

UK got a commitment from 2014 point guard Tyler Ulis earlier this month.

THIS is why Jones won't sign at Kentucky. These pampered, elite recruits are scared of competition and want to be assured they are the "star" of the team.

KY just recruited themselves out of the Tyus Jones sweepstakes

Them's fightin' words, Tin Man. ;-)

And WPS, Tyus Jones isn't a "pampered" player and isn't afraid of competition, nor does he try to be the star of a team (hence why he drop dimes like Carmelo Anthony drains jumpers); he scores when needed, but that always takes a back seat to making his TEAM better. If Jones wanted to be the star of the team, he wouldn't want to go to the same school as Okafor (who will the de facto go-to guy/star on whatever college team gets him).

And why would 2 of the top PG recruits go to the same school? I could see 2 of the top forwards or 2 of the top shooting guards (even with similar skill sets) going to the same school, because they could easily be on the floor at the same time. But 2 top point guards in the same class going to the same school? That's not competition so much as madness/lunacy.

That, combined with the implication Duke pays its players, sort of shows you're a randomly angry, bitter person...or willfully ignorant.

That is why Cal is very careful about who he recruits. The 2011-12 team and this upcoming one both consist of team players who aren't insecure enough to need to be The Man on their team. Look at the #1 and #2 picks in the 2012 draft - both gave up shots and playing time in order to play for a champion. Cal has enough of a target-rich recruiting environment to only go for the players who can be part of a team.

Agreed he will be a one and done but it will not be at Duke. Coach K not a big fan of a one year player recruit. Possibly Baylor but the big sleeper will be Minnesota. Coach Pitino would welcome Jones with open arms for one year and his style will well prepare him for the pro game as teaches culpability and team strengths which make Jones an even stronger draft candidate with those attributes.
