Mariota calls out Cal's 'undisciplined' D

07:23 AM ET 09.27 | When Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota watches video of Cal's porous defense -- thanks largely to inexperience and injuries -- he sees opportunity. "I would say that they're kind of undisciplined with their eyes a little bit," Mariota said Thursday morning. "They tend to bite on run fakes and they get beat over the top a little bit so we'll see. They've had two weeks to prepare for us and they might come out with different looks. ... I'm itching to see what they give us." Two true freshmen and three sophomores start on a defense that is slowly recovering from key injuries. ... This week, for the first time in nearly a month, Cal has used the same rotation in the defensive backfield most of the week's practices, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Just repeating what his coaches said when he was watching film.

Its on.

Yeah, it may be on but it'll be over quickly.

I'm ready to see the Washington game and Stanford game. Oregon looks to be by far the best team right now.....can't wait to see them play a quality opponent.

Calling out a team completely overmatched. Bravely spoken.

Totally agree!!! Oregon has a few "quality" teams left on their schedule this year, Washington, Stanford and UCLA won't be cakewalks. Hell even WSU might be a tough game.

Cal tends to bring out the "best" in opponents and their fans...

Yeah, thank you, Marcus, for detailing the obvious. You're a great Heisman candidate.

Cal might as well chalk the Oregon game up to character-building because they're going to get smashed in every aspect. The only question is how far the Ducks will roll up the points? Cal's defense is absolutely atrocious for any team. But what did Sandy Barbour expect from Sonny ****? **** was the wrong choice for Cal by a Berkeley mile: He hasn't a clue about defense and neither does Buh. MacIntyre who knows the PAC scene and West Coast recruiting would have been by far the better choice. Many dark days ahead for Golden Bears fans. Better get them brown bags ready: it only gets worse. (Personally I can't wait for the days of the "Bear Raid" to be over with. Mismatch of epic proportions. At least Barbour gets fired too.)

Oregon will smoke Wazzou. The others might be competitive, but Stanford-Oregon is the game to watch. That should be very good.

Smoking wazzou is legal in Oregon, isn't it?

In the southern part of the state, anything is "legal." That's the "wild west," to be sure. Actually you're now safer smoking in WA.

If you have your card....it's fully legal in Washington now though
