Hitch preaches patience ... in Calgary

07:25 AM ET 09.27 | Buckle up, Calgary, according to Ken Hitchcock this could be a bumpy ride. "Rebuilding is a pretty exciting word in August," said the St. Louis Blues coach who is widely considered to be one of the brightest minds in the game. "It's not fun in October and it's not fun when you go 0-4. But folks in Calgary have to understand that in order for this to build, patience in the fan base is going to have to be great because it's going to be frustrating at times. But when it gets built, it can stay built for a long time. Look at Chicago or L.A. -- teams built for a cause that will be championship-calibre teams for at least the next five or six years." ... [Hitchcock] has seen it all and knows as well as anyone in the game there's no quick fix for a franchise as thin as the Flames.

HC and his fellow Calgary Flames fans don't have a thing in the world to worry about. They have Lord Irk in the fold!

I might go as far back as the Yankees baseball team that always had bad spring trainings, but in the regular season were badass. I always had the feeling Hitch pushed so hard all season the players were wore out come playoffs.

It's not just a feeling, Ship. He does. And, they are.
