07:27 AM ET 09.27 | With a week to go, there is hope Chicago will debut this season with forward Marian Hossa. [Hossa] returned to the ice Thursday after sitting out about a week with an upper-body injury, and he could play in the season opener, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said on Thursday. Hossa has not played in any of the Blackhawks' five preseason games after aggravating a previous injury last week. Quenneville said Hossa will not play in the final preseason game on Saturday. The Blackhawks' season opener is on Tuesday. "He skated about 40 minutes," Quenneville [Thursday]. ... "Hopefully, he'll join our practice [Friday,] but he'll skate anyway. But he felt good; he's good. He's not going to play Saturday, but we expect him, we're hoping that he's going to be playing on Tuesday."

They have the luxury to pick and choose when to play him in the regular season...no reason to rush him back.

Exactly. The Hawks haven't missed a beat since the SC win. They look in mid-season form already. Hossa can rest his ol' bones for a while longer.

Makes you glad the Wings slid out of that division, although they weren't that far behind at the end of last season.

Almost 4 in 6!!!! He came close with Pittsburgh and then lost to the pens when he switched sides. Had it been the other way around......it would have been a record I'm sure.

Good player. He is a hossa. I mean hoser eh! :)
