07:28 AM ET 09.27 | For the most part, Flyers coach Peter Laviolette walked away from Thursday night's game disappointed with his team's performance. "We are in a training camp and evaluation period, and it is a process for guys to put their cards on the table, and I was disappointed in that tonight," Laviolette said. ... What Laviolette wasn't disappointed with was the play of goalie Steve Mason, who is in a battle with Ray Emery for the No. 1 spot. "I thought he played terrific," Laviolette said. ... [Said Mason:] "I felt real patient, and they had some real quality chances, and for the most part I felt good about it." The Flyers are 1-4-1 entering Friday's final dress rehearsal in Washington, where a regular lineup is expected.

If they didn't have a controversy that would be a controversy.

What controversy? Neither Mason or Emery is a top tier goalie and the Flyers defense is sieve like so it doesn't matter which of these two guys they put out there .....

Whew! For a while there I thought they're bringing Ilya Bryzgalo back.

I am 40 years old, and there has been a goalie controversy with my beloved Flyers for more then half of my life. Ed Snider is the Jerry Jones of the NHL, where he is living off success from the past. Both Snider and Jones have multiple championships but haven't won squat for a long time, and both meddle with their teams every year where they prevent them from building a long term winner.

And the one before him was in the Wehrmacht.
