04:48 PM ET 09.27 | Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder is currently battling a rib injury that has limited throughout practice and his status for this weekend's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London could be in jeopardy, but there could soon be even more quarterback drama in Minnesota if the rumors come to fruition. According to reports, the Vikings may be looking in to a potential trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for disgruntled quarterback Josh Freeman. Freeman was recently benched in favor of rookie signal-caller Mike Glennon and he has said since then that he would be open to a trade. The only thing that would cause teams to shy away from the first-round bust is the fact that he is in the final year of his rookie deal and he could be had in the offseason without giving up much to acquire him.

Minnesota will offer up a 4th round pick, Tampa will hold fast on a 2nd round pick, nothing will happen.

OK, but I started the rumor.
Say ever had a rib injury. I had a cracked rib once and you can't even laugh for a week or two let alone be in a picture on your knee's in practice yuking it up (Ponder). I think Ponder is making it up to get out of being pummeled by the Steelers. His agent probably told him he better come up with an injury or if he plays and gets creamed, his career is on the fast track out of the door.
I would suspect that if the Vikes lose today, Freeman is on a plane tomorrow to Minny. If they win, then they may try and eck it out with Cassel/Ponder.
