09:14 AM ET 09.28 | As Robinson Cano approaches free agency next month, many expect a fierce bidding war to erupt between the Yankees and Dodgers. Everybody other than the Dodgers, that is. According to a high-ranking National League executive with knowledge of the situation, the Dodgers have no intention to bid on Cano this winter, leaving the second baseman without one of the sport's richest teams in the sweepstakes for his services. "They're not interested in Cano," the executive said.

For the money he is looking for who could blame them for passing.
Is his rep JZ?

Wise decision.

Go Dodgers!!

Turns 31 next month. No way 10 years from anybody. You could time him on the bases with a sun dial before it is done with. He will get 6 years and somewhere south of $180 million when it is over with. I suspect in the $160 million range.

I'm glad the Dodgers are out of the running for Cano.

Now, the Yanks can bid against themselves.

September 28, 2013  10:18 AM ET

Maybe they're just playing coy. It's not like they have a decent second baseman.

They have six arbitration eligible guys and some free agents of their own to decide on. Then there is the old apple cart problem going forward. If you give him that kind of money what do you give your guys when their contracts are up?

Like the Yankees, they have a number and years in mind and that is that if it is not good enough.

Don't underestimate Magic. He could still jump in and make a splash.

Pathetically speaking, that was my first thought as well......LolI really hope they don't go past 6-7 years.Overpay for a shorter deal, but don't extend him til he's an old fat broken guy

The Yankees desire Cano, but they do not revere him. And that is the difference. And it is all the difference in the world.

September 28, 2013  10:48 AM ET

Cano needs to drop off some of his contract demands
,unless he is fully aware about the father time!

September 28, 2013  10:49 AM ET

With Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito coming off the books, the Giants could be players for Cano.

September 28, 2013  10:51 AM ET

Cano could get a contract 5 years 100 millions deal, why not?
can't get a deal like Rodriguez though, :-)

Cano isn't worthed 10 years 350 millions,unless the giants
are confuse and disoriented, then maybe :-) :-)

Could. But that is over 320 innings pitched to replace add in another 100 from a questionable Voglesong and they may want to go after some pitching first.

I hope so......And I think fans feel the same wayI have no problem paying him a ton for 5 yearsIt is the years that I am concerned with.....Old teams don't win anymore, .....not that there supposedly isn't any PEDs

He has no Face card to play. When you have a pocket full of world series rings and go to the playoffs and all you have a face card , Jeter used it often, Mo could have any time, but Cano does not have that trump card. I would not underestimate Cashman on this one. He will go so far and that is that. too many other holes to fill.

I don't know 50, when you look at that Yankee lineup without Cano, it looks to me like he has a pretty good Face Card to play.

Mark Ellis is a decent second baseman, just not in the same class as Cano.
