Bob Hartley hasn't settled on Flames No. 1 goalie

10:15 AM ET 09.28 | Coach Bob Hartley has made some decisions as to who will comprise the 2013-14 Calgary Flames. There's still more to be made, too. Not settled with his goaltending, Hartley has a couple of decisions to make between the pipes. He's already made one. "I don't want three goalies," he said. With no firm decision on his goaltenders, Hartley's forced to rotate Joey MacDonald, Reto Berra and Karri Ramo between nets in practice as the team makes final evaluations in the crease. "It's a nightmare," he said. "It's a nightmare but that's what we have. There's not much we can do. We try to evaluate them as much as we can. It's like having three students sitting in the same desk." For MacDonald, splitting time with two other goaltenders simply is what it is. "You just do what you do," he said. "You go out, prepare yourself to give yourself the best opportunity out on the ice. It's tough when you have three goalies on the ice. When you get out there you just have to do your thing and not change anything."

Mike Vernon from the 80s couldn't help this team so it doesn't really matter...

Forgive me if, all the years of Miikka Kiprusoff I'm a bit cynical but, I don't think the Flames have anyone they can call a #1 goalie.

Still one of my all-time favorites, much better liked than the Dominator.

Wayne Gretzky liked Mike Vernon too. In fact, he liked him a lot! ;-)

I agree Roamer. Herry's about to find out they're all #2s.

I agree with Roamer as well. If they haven't figured out who their #1 is that means they are playing like #3's. It wouldn't surprise me to see Burkie make a pitch for Reimer.

Greztky calls the goal he shot over Vernons shoulder in the playoffs was the best one he ever scored.

I don't know how likeable the Dominator was but I liked him more as goalie then Vernon.

They have a lot of rebuilding to do before they can start to rebuild. HC will be turning off the tube halfway through 2nd period more than a few times.

Means nothing, Gretz made all goalies look bad.

They were both what the Wings needed at the time they played, but Vernon is 'one' of the best the Flames have had. And I liked him even more after the Roy episode when he was with the Wings

Sigh....you'll get it figured out sometime in the next 10 years...

Yep. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Nobody was as happy to see Wayne Gretzky traded away from Edmonton as Mike Vernon. He was a fairly good goalie otherwise.

Good enough to guide the Wings to their first Ring in years. They don't have to be great for me to like them, I still remember Howie Young:)

Joey D being 33 now, I can safely say he'll be ...long...gone.

I'd like to mae Ramo emerge, but we shall see...

They are gonna have to play like a team.

A conflicted indivudual if ever.

Didn't he play some time for our national team pre-pro invasion? around when Carl Brewer was?
