05:20 PM ET 09.28 | For the first time since 1992, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to the playoffs - they just hope it's for more than one game. The Pirates, who've clinched a postseason spot, are unfortunately too far behind the St. Louis Cardinals to claim the National League Central division, so they're locked into the winner-take-all, wild card game where they'll face the Cincinnati Reds, with the winner advancing to the next round. With just two games remaining (including today) and a two-game lead over the Reds, barring a mini meltdown, the Pirates will be hosting the Wild Card game and it will be ace Francisco Liriano on the mound.

Liriano is the ace now. If they can keep up their power surge they should be able to do make to the next round. Then again these are still the Pirates so you never know.

It's nice to see the Pirates are a relevant team once again after twenty years of futility.
