10:13 AM ET 09.29 | If LeBron James could have spent one year in college, he would have spent it at Ohio State. That's the message the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player delivered to a frenzied St. John Arena that was filled to capacity with the Buckeyes faithful and the Ohio State Marching Band about two hours prior to the school's 8 p.m. ET kickoff against Wisconsin. "I promise, I say this all the time -- if I had one year of college, I would have ended up here," James said. James, donning a black short-sleeve shirt, a black cap and jeans, led the team down the steps outside the Blackwell Hotel to the arena for the team's traditional Skull Session pep rally. Head coach Urban Meyer introduced James, who was greeted with mostly cheers, but a few noticeable boos. "No matter where I go in the world, no matter where it is, I will always rock Ohio State colors," James said.

I know he has a locker...maybe next year TOSU can retire his number?

Someone said the speak should have been, "if you want a championship, take your talents to South Beach"

And not a trace of irony could be heard when James uttered his "if I had one year of college" comment.

OSU is probably the 5th or 6th best team in the SEC / the 3rd best team in the PAC 12 and, if they go undefeated, could be in the national championship game. Similar to last year as with ND, based on the current system and if undefeated, they will deserve to be there.

Urban will use anything to give an edge in recruiting. They had 50 recruits there last night and I'm sure they all were impressed with LBJ being on the sidelines, wearing scarlet & gray, and praising OSU.

Preface speech....."just remember if you can't win, just move on to be with better players. Instead of improving yourself." "Follow the money, oh wait....."

Him having a locker, giving speeches, to a school he didn't go to dumbest thing ever. This is why people make fun of osu.

Hey River,

OSU clearly the best of the B1G right now and I am sure Lebron's appearance indeed did help recruiting.

I also must "tip my hat" to you on your call regarding Gardner . . . so far. He has all the talent in the world but has lost confidence and seems to be panicking in the pocket. Michigan no where near OSU's level right now.

Maybe Michigan B-ball should use Kevin Garnett since he wanted to go to Michigan but went to the NBA instead??? LOL

Ugh. Urban continues to impress me on the field and to nauseate me off...

Thanks Yooper. I just knew the learning curve for athletic QB's is long and hard (i.e. Terrelle Pryor). It's hard for them to shed the "run-first" impulse. I don't know if DG fits the Borges pro-set O. They may have to bring back some of the read-option and re-tool with a new stud recruit next year. But, didn't Gardner get another year of eligibility? If so, you may not see Hoke's intended offense until 2015.

So, Cleveland lost Lebron and gained Betty White; a pretty good deal, it seems to me.

Ohio State is better than this guy. They don't need him skulking around with no purpose. They should stop this nonsense.

It's all about the recruiting. Those high-school hopefuls think LBJ IS royalty! I admit the "If I had gone to college it would have been Ohio State" line is very weak, but him on the sidelines (with the recruits) wearing OSU swag is powerful.

Gardner did get another year of eligibility but please don't read me wrong . . . it's not that I don't think he's capable, it's just that he's having a very hard time right now being comfortable. There's a few reasons for that . . . some of which are the ones your profess. The middle of offensive line has had plenty to do with the lack of production on offense but Gardner definitely needs to be more patient/confident in the pocket.

They do have a "stud" of sorts in waiting, but I will not say at this point he would be any better than Gardner.

Before the season I predicted 9-3 for Michigan. I'll stick to that but based on the last two games only 3 losses is in jeopardy.
