Big Ben: 'We're the worst team in the league'

07:08 AM ET 09.30 | On Sunday, Pittsburgh endured the league's longest flight home, courtesy a loss in London. The Steelers thus start the season at 0-4 for the first time since 1968, an autumn in which Richard Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey in the presidential election."We're in uncharted territory and the water is dangerous right now," Roethlisberger said. "Right now, we can say we're the worst team in the league. That hurts." They will find some relief next Sunday, because they have the weekend off. "Sting?" said Roethlisberger, who is now 1-7 counting the final four games of last season. "It does. It's hard to talk about." Mike Tomlin threatened to get rid of players who will not buy into the team's job of turning a distasteful season around. "Those who don't, ain't going to be a part of this ... whoever it may be."

I nominate Todd Haley to be the next coach at USC. Just get him the h3ll out of Pittsburgh.

The O-line can't protect Ben. OK, he does hold on to the ball too long sometimes, but that's never going to change. So, he needs a solid O-line. We don't have one.

At least we saw some semblance of a running game.

I liked the soprano who sang "God Save the Queen" more than Gene Simmons, who sang the Star Spangled Banner and looked like he was trying out for the part of Tonto's grandfather in Lone Ranger II.

Don't be so melodramatic. Just remember: there's always the Jaguars

I hate early season Bye Weeks. Although the Steelers need it.

They start the Byes in Week 4. That's ridiculous.

agreed, bye weeks seem better for most teams late in the season, so they can rest and heal up for the playoffs.

Don't give the producers any ideas...

Not yet..but they are circling the bowl.

Tomlin isn't helping things by those comments, either. Some times the house just gets old and starts to crumble, and you've got to rebuild from the ground up. Steelers and Giants stuck with the same core roster a year too long (two years, actually).

Vikes and Steelers get a bye because they went to London. Redskins can use it. As for the Bucs? NFL fans everywhere need a break from them, although a bye-bye would be even better than just a bye.

Always said that Tomlin would not be able to rebuild the team once all the players Cowher brought in get old or leave.......

Thus an early bye for the Steelers is completely appropriate

And forget about Brian Hoyer for a few minutes....
