Wilfork has torn Achilles' tendon

07:09 AM ET 09.30 | As if often the case in football, losses come with wins. It wasn't good to see Vince Wilfork limp off the field in the first half of the Patriots' win over Atlanta, and the news is about as bad as it could be for New England: according to a league source, the veteran tore his right Achilles' tendon. The Patriots announced that Wilfork had an ankle injury during the game, and he was spotted leaving the Georgia Dome after the game with his lower leg in a walking boot. Wilfork will more than likely be placed on season-ending injured reserve. It will be interesting to see if the Patriots try to swing a trade for a defensive tackle to take Wilfork's place -- though rookie Joe Vellano had a sack of Matt Ryan, New England is very thin at the position.

Not good.

But, losing a guy like Wilfork will make you thinner at pretty much any position.

This does cast a pall over this morning's celebrations.

Hail to the Redskins, anyway.

Damn! That's not good. Don't know if they can continue to patchwork this entire team together.

On a positive, Thompkins can play!

Blame Brian Urlacher. When he made that stupid statement it let the cat out of the bag and now every guy that goes down is assumed guilty of "faking it".

Reminded me of the Iggles fans who cheered Irvin's neck injury in his last game. CLASSLESS!!

QUOTE(#18):

A true Jets buttfumble must have the ball come loose after contact with a player's butt, resulting in a fumble recovery and a touchdown for the other team. Therefore this is truly Buttfumble 2.0, as perfected by the Jets.

The pigskin didn't quite fit up there, did it?

Very cleverly done! Sanchez is going to have a hard time getting his job back at that rate.
