07:15 AM ET 09.30 | How much can the Knicks expect this season out of Amar'e Stoudemire? [Stoudemire's] hectic summer didn't include much basketball but it did include yet another knee surgery, the Daily News has learned. According to a Knicks source, Stoudemire had an unreported surgical procedure in July to repair one of his ailing knees. The Knicks open camp on Tuesday and have yet to announce that Stoudemire has had a third knee operation in 12 months. The surgery was described as "clean up" and isn't considered major. However, the secrecy surrounding Stoudemire's latest health issue could be an indication that the club is not optimistic that they can rely on the veteran power forward. Stoudemire appeared in just 29 games last season and had debridement surgeries on both of his knees.

Granted I am no doctor, but just as a regular guy I can't help but to wonder how much of this stuff is actually beneficial and how much of it is because Amare and/or the Knicks have deep pockets? Amare appears to have knees that are shot. Why continue with the charade? Wouldn't it be more honorable for these doctors to give him an honest diagnosis and realistic prognosis?

People complain about lawyers, but this type of secret suspect surgical experimentation is exactly the kind of thing that keeps attorneys in business. What other recourse does an athlete have when they wake up 10-12 years down the road and realize they're quaility of life has been diminished by inhuman teams and doctors who have never considered them at all? They are the ones who spend the rest of their lives hobbled and in constant pain. People should think about these situations when they start complaining that these guys make too much money and show no team loyalty. For the pain, suffering and cattle like treatment these guys endure, they deserve every penny.

Wow, it's like this guy is falling apart since he signed in New York. This is one of the worst things about pro sports. Cap space is tied up on guys that are no longer who you thought you signed.

The KNicks knew who they signed. They gambled. For about 18 months the gamble paid off, now the chickens have come home to roost.

The first week of the season will be a major test to see if it's time for him to hang up his sneakers. Hopefully he doesn't do a Bynum and steal money from other organizations.

the Suns knew what they were doing when they decided to let this wreck go. Now all he is a 12 minute a night bench player making 22 million a year.

It's tough being a NY fan right now especially when you get negative news everyday.

And yet Knick fans still think the New York Knick are a championship team.

Wasn't Chandler hurt last year? I really can't remember but I thought he wasn't himself for some reason.

he is usually injured- it is one of the reasons why Cuban refused to give him the albatross of a deal Dolan green-lighted

I try and offer up something substantive in an effort to spark a lively intelligent discussion and you blow it for me with this nonsense. Thanks.

Yeah. Why can't we all be the Trailblazers. That bastion of repeat titles and mensa level decision making.
