Marlins haven't approached Stanton

07:16 AM ET 09.30 | Perhaps Miami can ride the momentum of a new front office and an unlikely no-hitter in Game 162 into the offseason. But how about locking up [Giancarlo Stanton], the Marlins' star who'll become arbitration eligible this off-season, to a long-term contract sooner rather than later? "The big man is a big part of our future," [Michael Hill] said. So, make a pre-emptive move on making certain Stanton knows it even if it means a bump in the team payroll from a penurious $36 million. Asked before the game if he would be open to signing a deal if the Marlins presented one, Stanton said, "They haven't come to me." But it would be a significant move by [Jeffrey Loria] to go to Stanton with an offer as a sign of good faith to fans.

I can't imagine that Stanton wants to lock in with this terrible team.
Also, he really dogged it this past season and dropped off dramatically from his .600+ slugging percentage in '12.
The Marlins are just waiting for a good time to trade him for prospects, probably hoping he'll actually try in '14 and put up big numbers that a contender will be willing to pay dearly for.

Loria doesn't give a fart about the fans. He's all about himself and how much money he can squeeze into his pockets from revenue sharing.

It will take more than Stanton to bring the Fish back to the top, so if I am the GM I am trading him this offseason for 3 or 4 top prospects.

Not one thread about a playoff team this morning? Are you kidding me?

Offering him a deal would make sense and that is precisely why Loria won't do it. If Stanton is smart, he'll be on the first thing smokin' out of Miami.

Every day a Marlins story? Why?

And yet, you managed to spam every thread. Weird.
