Rivers on leaving: 'The truth was this ...'

07:11 AM ET 09.30 | Still, for Doc Rivers, the questions persist about Boston. Those nine seasons with the Celtics were the best of his basketball life, and they're forever embedded within him now. Rivers wished he could've been spared the criticism on his way out, but that was inevitable and he's come to understand that better now. "It dragged out to a point where there were bound to be hurt feelings," Rivers said. "The truth was this: I really didn't want to go through a rebuild. I've been through three -- when I first got to Orlando, and then when Grant Hill went down again. And I had been through one in Boston. It's easy to say, 'Just do it,' but for a coach, it's brutal. Showing up, getting your [butt] kicked, it's brutal. It takes a lot out of you. At the end of the year, when we lost, I had full intentions of doing it."

He finally admitted that he left because the team is gonna suck and he doesn't have the heart to hang around and help out even if he got paid handsomely. Now it's time to turn the page and just move on.

One day Doc is going to talk about his new team and not his old team. Every time Doc talks about leaving the Celtics, it make him look more like a lying weasel.

Doc wins one championship and can't handle the losses add on his record. By that same token, Rick Carlisle should have lied and weaseled his way on to a winning team like Doc has.

Coach Pop and the Spurs hate that also. That's why they still keep one of the best records in the NBA even while rebuilding.

Uh.....the Spurs haven't been through a 'rebuilding' since Duncan was a rookie.....

What they have dine is retooled with new role players.....but they haven't rebuilt since the mid-90's.

It's clear that the animal of the day is "weasel".
