Raiders coach criticizes Matt Flynn after loss

07:49 PM ET 09.30 | If there was any doubt whether or not the Oakland Raiders were better off choosing Terrelle Pryor over Matt Flynn to start the season, it went away after the team's Week 4 loss at home to the Washington Redskins. Pryor was ruled inactive after suffering concussion symptoms late Saturday night, so Flynn got the start and he looked dreadful. The stat line may not show it - 21-of-32 for 227 yards with one touchdown and an interception - but Flynn proved why he has never been able to beat out his competition to earn the starting job. He looked awful and made it clear that Pryor is the far better quarterback. After the game, Raiders head coach Dennis Allen reiterated the fact that poor quarterback play likely cost them the game.

I've at least heard of Matt Flynn. This is the first I've heard of Dennis Allen.

TPryor's style of play is going to lead to frequent concussions. They'd better get a #2 they trust.

Only lousy coaches throw their players under a bus after the game. Pathetic.

Flynn's one great game came and went against the Patriots. TP is going to spend a bunch of time on IR (Vick like time). Maybe they can take Schaub off of our hands?

How do such terrible QB's like Flynn and Kolb get away with so much money in the NFL when they are clearly incapable ?

They have that 1 good game where they come in as a backup and look like the real deal for that one game. Teams never buy a QB for a 1 year contract. Maybe they should start. The odds are against the guy being a star. Do up a contract like Reevis did in Tampa, 1 year contracts with 1 year options.

Another graduate from the Schiano school of coaching?

Pryor got the nod before Flynn came on board. After teams watched how Kaperdink ran and passed, the raiders said, hey we got that on our team. Lets get this kid going. Flynn was always a backup plan.

Both are forgettable.
