Top Hoosiers recruit wavering

Devin Ebanks, the top-ranked player in Indiana University's 2008 recruiting class, might not join the Hoosiers in light of the most recent alleged NCAA violations by coach Kelvin Sampson. The 6-8 forward from New York is ranked as one of the 10 best high school seniors and considered an immediate impact player should Eric Gordon opt for the NBA after the season. Whether Ebanks attends is part of the uncertainty surrounding IU after Wednesday's allegations of "major" recruiting violations. Among the possible penalties is a postseason ban, which could devastate recruiting.

Ebanks...it's called the ACC...it's where REAL basketball takes place...c'mon over.

February 15, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Ebanks should stay close to home and go to Syracuse. And Stephen Van Treese can also stay close to home and go to ND.

February 15, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Devin...go to the big 12 where any1 w/ talent can put up 25/10 against the hillbillies from the midwest and then go Pro

sincerely,

Listen, play beside Patterson at UK. It would be a stud front court. It would also be nice to crap on IU.

Really??? Ebanks might have a better chance in the PAC 10, the conference of champions. C'mon, the "C" in UCLA stands for 100, 100 National Championships. As a matter of fact, they only hang National Titles in Pauley Pavillion. The next one they hang from the rafters will be number 12. So, Ebanks, if you're reading this, come follow in the footsteps of another NYC great, Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. L.A. AKA TITLE TOWN!!!

I dont think UCLA hanging another one soon arejay.

and Preach.............get a grip. How has anyone after the first two teams from the ACC conference done in the tournament lately, can you say POMPOUS and OVERRATED DIVISION? I know, I get it shoved down my throat in NC all the time..........it really hurts from Dick Vitale ugh

February 15, 2008  02:01 PM ET

He was also considering Rutgers and Miami according to Rivals and also Texas according to Scout. He should stay up in the Northeast, but I think he will go to Texas for obvious reasons.

February 15, 2008  02:04 PM ET

I think your wrong jack...UCLA will be hanging its 12th at Pauley soon. This team is good and will get better. Ebanks should play at UCLA, its the best basketball school in the country...I wanna see someone prove to me otherwise.

February 15, 2008  02:30 PM ET

WHo can blame him? Why would anyone go play for Sampson now?

El_Guapo, this is what I'm talking about, the West/Best Coast hating is just non-stop. jackmanrob's entitled to his opinion, he's from where they wear that INFERIOR BLUE. UCLA has gone to two straight FINAL FOURS with mediocre talent. They've improved talent-wise with the addition of Love, but they still don't have that five-star slashing, wing-type player. Westbrook's developing into that kind of player and I love his intensity. What would the rest of the nation do if UCLA had a Deriick Rose or an Eric Gordon type player on the wing? This team can win that 12th Nat'l 'ship, if thy're willing to play defense like the previous two FINAL FOUR teams...In L.A., EXPECTATIONS ARE VERY HIGH!!! That's why UCLA only hangs 'ships in Pauley Pavillion.

February 15, 2008  02:58 PM ET

yeah, i hear you. If we had a player like that we would surely be champions. As it is though, I have high hopes that within the next 5 years we will hang up that 12th banner. It might even happen this year, we have a pretty good team...the only thing is we need to tighten up our defense, thats all.

February 15, 2008  03:11 PM ET

He should go to Duke, the best basketball school in the country. ACC is the most competitive conference.

February 15, 2008  03:12 PM ET

Duke would beat UCLA this year no problem.

February 15, 2008  03:26 PM ET

lol, youre funny if you think Duke has what it takes and is the best bb school in the country. ACC is nothing compared to the PAC-10. UCLA would eat Duke for breakfast and have NC for lunch and the rest of your conference for dinner. As for the best bb school i think not, how many championships does Duke have...I know we have 11...hmm Duke is over-rated.We are going for our 12th and will get it.

February 15, 2008  03:32 PM ET

El_Guapo, get your head out of Britney Spears' butt. UCLA isn't even the best school in LA. Yall lost to budding USC team in Pauley and it wasn't close. Pac-10 and ACC have good top tier teams but all-around, Pac-10 can't compare.

February 15, 2008  03:35 PM ET

UCLA is good, but I think they should be better. Hopefully they can avenge that USC loss because that had to hurt their ego.
