Frazier's QB plans vague and confusing

07:11 AM ET 10.02 | Vikings coach Leslie Frazier certainly had enough travel time over the past few days to formulate his plans, but, if he knows, he appears unwilling to make them public. [Frazier's] plans remain as vague and confusing as they were immediately after Sunday's 34-27 victory against the Steelers in London. Frazier said Christian Ponder (fractured rib) remains the starter, if healthy. But Frazier also left the door open for Matt Cassel to remain the starter for the Carolina game after the bye after he played well in relief on Ponder. "Christian is still injured, but he's our starting quarterback," Frazier said. "We'll see how he does coming out of the bye." Frazier was then asked if Ponder is healthy does he remain he starter? "We'll talk about a lot of things when we get to next week," Frazier said.

Frazier would do better in a beer commercial than as a coach.

Cassel managed the team, moved the ball and didn't make mistakes. He got them their first win of the season. When the offense clicks with one guy and not another, there is something going on that should not be ignored.

Bring back Leinhart/Russell/Young!

I don't really mean that but I figured somebody had to say it.

I would do better in a beer commercial than as a coach, too.

Of course, the director would get frustrated when he saw how many takes I needed to get it right.

Tebow Time!

(You knew somebody had to say that, too. Might as well get it out of the way early.)

Why would he tip his hand at this juncture with a bye week coming up?

Sort of like pulling off a band aid.

Thanks for reminding me. It's time for my flu shot.

Look, I can tell you that Ponder is the guy. Period, end of discussion. Frazier will never replace a guy due to injury. His plan, once Ponder can play, Ponder will play.
This team still believes they can win with Ponder and aren't as they say, throwing the baby out with the bath water.

If this is so, why the reported interest in Josh Freeman?

That was just some false reporting engineered by Schiano

It was a ruse. One that's easy to see through when you realize it'd have to mean someone thought Josh Freeman could be of any use on their roster.

He'll be engineering himself out of a job before too long.

Maybe .......but Ponder has not done nothing to really prove it....last year AP carried them into the play-off not Ponder's arm and this yr he has not won a game as the QB, If AP is having an off day -Vikings lose .

Ponder can play, he just doesn't win games.

Exactly. Pretty much a non-story.

QUOTE(#18):

The real difference between the first 3 games and this last game was the improved O-line play, and having Felton back. The offense still put up points in the first 3 games, and the defense gave them all back - and almost did the same at the end of this game.

Agreed. Folks underestimate how critical Felton is in blocking. Makes a big difference not only opening holes for Peterson but also in pass blocking. Felton is shockingly strong. He's also arguably Minny's best blocker.

It's easy to use week four to formulate some kind of half **** opinion about Ponder or Cassel but it would be a lazy and uneducated argument.

Not saying Ponder is any good or that Cassel is much worse than him but try not to read too much into how the Vikings' offense looked against Pitt. Or at least just be aware that Felton was back, and the Steelers defense is garbage, as well.

Took them to the playoffs last hear when NOBODY saw it coming.

Saying he can't win is an oversimplification. He's a flawed QB who can play in the NFL and can win some games but at times is more of a liability than an asset.

Which when you think about it sounds like the scouting report on every QB not named Manning Brees, Rodgers, or Brady.
