07:22 AM ET 10.02 | Would Orioles icon Cal Ripken Jr. suit up again, this time as a manager, in Washington? [Ripken], who's been speculated publicly as a possible successor to Davey Johnson as Nationals manager, suggested in a hypothetical sense that he'd listen if approached about a managing job. But he didn't say he was definitely interested. Not quite, anyway. As is his way, Ripken was mostly coy about the whole subject. "There's nothing new to report," Ripken [said]. But at one point, regarding the idea of managing, he did slip in a couple hints there are worse ideas. "At some point I might like to do that," he said. The Ripken speculation started when he didn't rule out the Nationals in an interview in August, and came up again when Nats star Jayson Werth said Ripken would be his first choice.

Cal is probably chomping at the bit for a chance to interview for the Nats job.

Werth would probably likeit if they hired his dad to manage, let's do that!

He's saying he'd consider it. I'm sure he'd rather manage the Orioles but why not get back in the game with somebody until Baltimore calls?

He would then have to stop being in every commercial break selling cable tv, real estate, safety equipment, loans, baseball cards....

I like Cal. Always have. Great guy, great player. Doesn't make him a great manager. I'd rather have somebody with a track record.

LOL. Well, he does have a track record. But I think I'd still be looking!
