07:23 AM ET 10.02 | When the Braves announce their National League Division Series roster, Dan Uggla's name is likely to be conspicuous by its absence. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez met with some players regarding roster decisions after the team held a workout that was closed to media members on Tuesday at Turner Field. An industry source said Uggla was informed that he will not be part of the 25-man roster the Braves will use during their best-of-five NLDS matchup against the Dodgers. Before making anything official on Wednesday, the Braves will first evaluate the health of some of the players, including right-handed reliever Jordan Walden, who has been ineffective in three of the four appearances he has made since missing three weeks with a strained groin.

They're going to miss his clutch strikeouts.

1 SO for every 2.6 AB's.

Can't say I blame them. That .179 average is ghastly, although he still draws plenty of walks.

I gotta say, Upton and Uggla make quite a set of bookends.

Heyward was horrible earlier in the season, not sure if he picked it up after getting off the DL.

not only is uggla struggling with the bat , he is not exactly a gold glove second baseman. The Braves will be facing Kershaw, Greinke, And Ryu all three are strikeout pitchers. The Braves are looking for hitters that can make contact and put ball in play.

would not be surprised if braves don't try to move Uggla in off season.

No team will take on his contract. He's still owed $24.8M through 2015.

I'd still like to Thank the Atlanta Braves for way over-paying for Uggla, thus saving the Marlins the embarrassment of doing so. Stupid $ for a serviceable 2nd baseman who can hit mistakes a mile, but little else. Let's also not forget his All-Star performance (I'm sure he tries to) 3k's and 2 errors. Possibly the worst All-Star game performance EVER! Woo, go Braves...

And Braves fans would like to thank the Marlins for being one of the worst franchises in the game today and, thankfully, being in our division. Your owner is garbage and your fans, well you might be the only one. Actually, this was a big mistake for the Braves, but, at the time, I was pretty happy with the signing. Just like with B.J. Upton. Joaquin Andujar once said his favorite American word was "youneverknow".

Go Dodgers!!

"Marlins" and "embarrassment" definitely belong in the same sentence.

Actually, he was much better after getting off the DL in June, and better still when he started hitting leadoff. You should try to keep up.

Worst Franchise in the game? WS Championships: Atlanta 1, Florida 2. No-Hitters: Atlanta 3, Florida 5. ROY's: Atlanta 4, Florida 3 w/4th possibly this season. As far as fans, surely you jest... Braves fans are not the most loyal either. BandWagon variety would be a better description. Just saying Uggla was a horrible signing and it saved the Marlins the chance to make that same mistake. Hope that Fredi thing works out for you too...

But how would they do that? Is there a team looking for a .179 hitting, well below average defensively 2B who makes $13M/yr?

Or even $600K/yr?

Perhaps the White Sox? He would be a good compliment to Adam Dunn. :)

The WS titles were awesome. Unfortunately the players were sold off before the Champange was wiped off the clubhouse walls.

They are a joke of a franchise regardless of how many no-no's and ROY's they have produced.
