Buckeyes sustain 'sucker punch'

07:26 AM ET 10.02 | Ohio State has averaged nearly 50 points per game this season, so the offense appears set -- but Urban Meyer's team sustained a hit on defense with senior captain Christian Bryant's broken ankle. "It's a sucker punch," the Ohio State coach said Tuesday on the weekly Big Ten coaches teleconference. ... Bryant's presence might be missed more off the field, though. Meyer indicated as much when he shouted in frustration and slammed the podium with his open hand following Saturday's win against Wisconsin. This week, Ohio State will embark on a trip to Evanston, Ill., to play unbeaten Northwestern. "It's rather obvious that leadership and toughness are needed to win road games," Meyer said. "This is a shot. This is a real one. That's why I was so emotional after that game. There's no secret formula."

What is with the worry? I think its a fight against arrogance and complacency in an attempt to keep the team motivated and focused on the ultimate goal. The Buckeyes have this one in the bag. No way they lose this game. They are just plain better.

This is the toughest game left on the schedule after the Wildcats its Iowa,Penn st, Purdue, ILL,Ind, and the Rodents up north.

Shouldn't be to tough as they have off weeks after this week and Ill. game.

Considering that Ohio st hardly ever plays any road games they should be fine. 12 of 17 games that Urban has coached have come at home.

For all you CFB fans, read two interesting articles in today's Wall St. Journal (Pg D6) about the NCAA and Conference Commissioners pressuring the NFL to allow HS players to be drafted.
Also discussed trying to set up some type of minor league system for kids who have no interest in a college education, like BB or NHL.
Feeling the legal pressure and also getting scared of the recruiting/player payment scandals that keep emerging.

NFL drafting kids straight out of HS would be very bad.......most of them would be severly injured, due to ther bodies not being fully developed, a Minor league system would probably hurt College FB alot as kids would by-pass college and go into the minor league system........
Sometimes I wonder if these Commissioners went to college from some of there dumb ideas.

Not to mention that the NFL had a minor league system, NFL Europe, and they abandoned it. Been there, done that - I don't expect the NFL to take another shot at it.
