Wade regrets '02 surgery

07:14 AM ET 10.03 | If he had it to do all over again, Dwyane Wade might approach the decision differently. [Wade] says surgery to remove the meniscus from his left knee 11 years ago while he was at Marquette led to the ongoing knee problems he's had with the Miami Heat. Wade has battled chronic knee issues over his career. He needed a second surgery on his left knee in 2012 and has also battled bone bruises and tendinitis. Wade said that if more of a long-term approach was used when he had his meniscus surgery in 2002, following his sophomore season, he may not have as many issues today. "My knee problems and the things I've dealt with started from that," Wade said. "That was [11] years ago and technology was different and the way you approach things was different."

And if you didn't have it done 11 years ago you wouldn't have made it to the NBA

Yes. I also read the complete article which make the headline to this somewhat false. He seemed to be really saying that he wishes the technology was then what it is now, not that he thinks it was a mistake to have the surgery at all. But I wish I could bang Gabrielle Union ... but I can't. Sometimes you can't get what you wish for. Probably he should have had the surgery at the Cleveland Clinic!

Since he knew his knee was kinda messed up, I don't understand why he didn't change his game a little bit by not trying to attack the basket too much. He made it worse by going kamikaze most of the time.

That style has got him 3 rings...if his career ended tomorrow, I would think he would have ZERO regrets...

Wade is going to play another 4 years, knees and all.

He will battle them again and again but having LBJ as a sidekick will help...if they part ways for some reason, Wade is done in 2.

While he may be partially right that the old surgery has something to do with his chronic pain but the majority of his pain is how he plays the game. Half the time he's picking himself off the floor!
