07:17 AM ET 10.03 | At the very least, Ron Gardenhire will be back -- beyond that is anyone's guess. Terry Ryan is willing to trade anyone this winter to improve the Twins, he told the team's season-ticket holders on Tuesday, even super prospects Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton -- though it would take a lot to convince him to do so. "I don't think we've got any untouchables. Those guys are pretty talented, but ... you'd have to consider pretty much anything," the Twins' general manager said in an hourlong conference call with the team's best customers. Still, he said, "It would be difficult to trade those guys, because both of them are on a fast track" to the major leagues. The Twins' annual ask-the-decision-makers session took place one day after Ryan announced [Gardenhire] would return next season.

The team's best customers?
You mean the Svensson family of Menomonie?
Those idiots bought season tickets AGAIN after the trainwreck that just completed?

QUOTE(#1):

Everyone knows that Buxton and Sano are off limits.

They'll lose their last 5 season ticket holders if they do trade them.

Number 1 Mr. GM you do not trade your future - number 2 all of your pitchers are no better than most teams Triple A pitchers - number 3 you really only have two players that most teams would trade for Mauer and Willingham.

"fast track to the big leagues" - LOL, yeah right. The Twins won't let them come up until they're past arbitration. Typical chintzy Pohlad policies. Lame.

Mauer and Willingham are key veterans. they should be kept. they would offer the leadership and mentors for those top prospects that should be up this year.

Amazing how quickly the reign of Bill Smith and his decisions have gutted the Twins roster. Smith has to go down as one of the worst GM's in recent memory.

October 4, 2013  09:21 AM ET

When you gut your roster of your seasoned veterans because you know you have young talent on way to majors is fine. but it is the veterans that will provide the leadershipfor that young talent and be their mentors of how to play the game the right way

Most of their players are safe due to no other team wanting them.
