07:21 AM ET 10.03 | Vanderbilt may have gone through plenty of coaches over the years, but any James Franklin departure would be different. His weekly press conference became a battle of wills with media members who asked a series of questions about the USC opening. Franklin responded with several unflinching non-answers and seemed willing to do so for the duration. "My response is that I'm really excited to talk about our last game and excited to talk about Missouri," he said. "For once I'd like to sit in this press conference and talk about either the game before or the game we're playing this week. ... We've been going through this for three years here." He was asked if he regarded the rumors as a good reflection on the Vanderbilt program. "I'm really excited about playing Missouri," he responded. "They have great colors."

What a change it is now, to go to a game with the attitude that the team on the field is really prepared, realizing that your not going to win every time, but that the team is focused and ready to play its heart out....as a fan, James Franklin has really turned a bottom dweller into a team that is now fun to watch....He has become a "Game Changer" for Dore faithful....sure, there are many programs he can go to, with better recruits and bigger and better facilities...we are just glad he stopped in Music City and gave us the chance to get to know and appreciate his coaching style and ability to get the most out of his players.....who knows how long his stay is at Vandy....but what a difference he has made in such a short time....Thanks coach.........

U$C has openings, since when did they anounce that?

USC quietly canned Layla's trophy husband sometime after midnight PT this past Saturday/Sunday. Lane Kiffin is now unemployed, and Ed Orgeron is acting HC.

I like the way James is handling the press. I think he should invite them all to quietly observe a presentation on how Hitler and Stalin systematically eliminated much of the press during their regimes.

Wow sounds like his responses when asked about the rape case against the former and current players.

Vandy celebrates any year they are not the worst in the SEC. But LUS says it much mo bettah...

QUOTE(#13):

He is 18-13(7-11 SEC) in less than 2 1/2 years at VANDY yes VANDY of all places...Franklin led Vanderbilt to a bowl game in both of his first two seasons as head coach. Vanderbilt had never previously participated in a bowl game in consecutive seasons.3 years prior to JF:11-265-19 in the SECHe has been basically better than any SCw HC except Petey w/ out all the talent... wrap your head around that

Okay, I just don't see him as a candidate for a HC at USC.

No doubt he has helped Vandy as HC, but IMO, he hasn't shown enough as of yet to be mentioned as a candidate for an opening as a HC at a Major school.

@ 2 1/2 and they should finsih with 7/8 wins... a school with no AD

Along with this concerted program-development, Johnson joined Vanderbilt's Chancellor E. Gordon Gee and Vice Chancellor David Williams II in creating what the Administration called "a new culture in college athletics" at Vanderbilt. The University Administration, with Johnson's public support, abolished the Department of Athletics as a separate entity within the University's administrative structure, along with the job of Athletic Director???a first among universities in a major Division I-A athletic conference. Intercollegiate athletics are now part of the Division of Student Life, overseen by Williams as Vice Chancellor of University Affairs.

Vandy Football is almost a "Club Sport"...so any success is really good for them
