Can Butch Jones do the impossible with freshman QBs?

07:28 AM ET 10.04 | Butch Jones has before him a number of challenges -- from the makings of a long season to the immediate challenge of a strong October schedule. And he's also attempting to do the impossible: keep two freshman quarterbacks happy and committed to Tennessee's program over the long haul. These things never work. It's the nature of the position. Two running backs can share the carries but two quarterbacks can't share the football. The huddle's not big enough for both of them. ... Maybe that's why Jones has not played either Riley Ferguson or Joshua Dobbs through UT's first five games. As long as he keeps them listed as co-backups to starter Justin Worley, they are on a level playing field even if they have not yet set foot on the playing field.

Exactly....as soon as I realized Tenn was 2-15 in SEC games over the last 2+ years, I decided to quit picking on them, and just say "bless their hearts"

Brilliant thinking! The solution to each of them not getting enough snaps is to make sure that neither of them gets any snaps!

May you think better of it, lest you be the recipient of a few more out-of-left-field curses.

Every time I hear/read "bless there hearts," I think of Wayne Newton in 'License to Kill.'
