07:30 AM ET 10.04 | Washington rallied for a 5-4 shootout win over the Flames on Thursday, but it lost defenseman Jack Hillen in the process. Hillen suffered an apparent injury to his right leg or knee after being crunched into the boards by Flames forward Lance Bouma with 8 minutes 10 seconds gone in the first period. ... Hillen, who was helped off the ice by Alex Ovechkin and athletic trainer Greg Smith, was taken to a local hospital and expected to stay overnight. Coach Adam Oates said Hillen is "going to be out for a bit". The Capitals will only list Hillen's condition as a lower body injury. ... It's an unfortunate situation for Hillen, 27, who missed 25 games last season after suffering a left shoulder injury in the 2012-13 season opener. Where Hillen's injury leaves the Capitals defensive depth is also a concern.

They should have lost that game last night. I'm not sure if the Caps are good or Calgary was that bad.

Well....they do play the back line....not that NYR has any reason to talk right now...but I think once they adapt to AV, they (Rangers) will be just fine

Our GAA is a snappy 5.00 after 2 games so you better be ready to score 6 tomorrow night or you're in real trouble Otis! :-)

Jack? Isn't he a centerman?

You're right that we should have lost. I'm going to wait for 10 games before I decide to be hopeful, or to end it all! D is our weak point, both in personnel and system as far as I can see. I'm sure Holtby isn't sleeping more than 5 minutes at a time this week. I'll leave it to HC to critique the Flames. If they are bad at least he can go out with Burkie for a drink or four!

Lehtonen faced 37 shots last night.

Bring lots of sticks.

No kidding! How do you blow a 4-0 lead?

Easy ... just pretend you're the Flames.

They do this every year though don't they? They look like they are a pushover, but then hit a stride where they string together wins and OT wins. I wouldn't worry about Holtby or Neuvy, they both can handle the load.

Calle Johannsen has his hands full with that young defense back there. Now with Hillen out, they are thinner. Maybe they can sign Kaberle?

not that he was ever anything spectacular, but he was okay.Decent on faceoffs, could play some minutes (on PK too) and be a liability. but he has never been the same player since Nilan jumped him....

He didn't look like a guy that just took a year off.

He was solid.
