10:37 AM ET 10.05 | USC has an open date Saturday, so Ed Orgeron and Trojans assistant coaches hopped onto various freeways Friday night en route to high school games across the Southland. The recruiting push was scheduled to continue Saturday at junior college games. "We're going back into the mode that we really need to be visible around the city of Los Angeles," said Orgeron, USC's interim head coach and recruiting coordinator. Orgeron attended Friday night's game between Los Angeles Crenshaw and Bellflower St. John Bosco at St. John Bosco.

Might as well get practice hitting the road, guys. You'll be doing a lot of it soon enough.

Not hard, just get a bus and take the cheerleaders with you. You will be turning five stars away with tears in their eyes.

Don't let recruits see upcoming games against Stanford or UCLA. Just sayin' ....

Good luck Trojans! Maybe your new coach will run into our new coach on the recruiting trail!

Damn, not a bad idea, but I'm guessing that it's against NCAA rules!! :-)

You're not going to have any leverage talking to recruits because everyone knows you're not going to be the head coach next year unless you are able to come up with a miracle on the level of The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh.

Oh I dont know,, who would want to play for a team that has to fire their HC in midseason?

A whole lot of baggage going on there I'd say.

Buyer beware.

Good PR, but it's doubtful that 4/5* recruits will commit until they know who'll be coaching them.
Trying to spread some fertilizer for the next guy to harvest.

And if I was a father of one of the cheerleaders, it would be against my rules!

it's been a couple of tough seasons for USC when Oregon, Stanford and now even Washington, UCLA and Oregon State are ranked higher than the Trojans.

Wste of time. Orgeron wont be there next year. He's not a sexy enough name. USC will undoubtedly give the job to some well known yet undeserving 'flavor of the month's candidate.

Too bad, too. They could use a couple Orgeron recruit classes...

The interesting part is that - although it will cost USC SOME recruits - PLENTY of very good recruits will still dream of playing for the Trogans, and sign on the dotted line, regardless of who the next coach will be.
