Sampson's future decided soon

Indiana President Michael McRobbie will announce today that the school will launch a new investigation into NCAA allegations against basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and that Athletic Director Rick Greenspan will make a recommendation on Sampson's future within days, a person close to the situation said Thursday night. If Greenspan recommends that Sampson be fired, Sampson's contract calls for a 10-day appeal process to challenge the termination. At that point, IU would suspend him from his coaching duties.

As Ken ("Hawk") Harrelson likes to say: "He gone!"

If he is a goner, I could put in a word for him at my old High School...

Sampson should just take the high road and resign....... I'm sure he won't, but that is what he should do.

He won't take the high road and resign because that will weaken his legal position. Truth be told that is the only reason he still has his job right now because damn lawyers get involved and Indiana has to worry just as much about the legal ramifications of firing him as what keeping him on is doing to the program. I thought he should have been immediately suspended and not allowed to coach Wisconsin pending an investigation. I never thought Indiana should have hired him and I won't be sad to see him gone.

Hm. This guy has been portrayed as a liar and a cheat among other bad things. He may coach basketball well, but there's much more to that to being a good basketball coach - or a good man.

If I remember correctly, IU had a chance to get Steve Alford when they hired Sampson. IU needs to look inside the Hoosier family for their next coach. It's time to bring pride and integrity back to Bloomington.

Ron Hunter. Write that name down. Ron Hunter. Next IU head coach.

Bobby Knight quits. A week later IU fires its head coach... Could it happen ?
