Twins didn't consider alternative for Ron Gardenhire

11:04 AM ET 10.06 | The Twins, who last week extended manager Ron Gardenhire's contract by two guaranteed years, never considered an alternative. Rampant speculation was that Paul Molitor, the Hall of Fame special assistant in the organization, would succeed Gardenhire had he not been retained. But the Twins say no one else was considered. Internal candidates for a seventh Twins coach next season include Molitor and Gene Glynn, but external prospects also will be considered.
