11:14 AM ET 10.06 | Senior receiver Mike Davis received a public reprimand from the Big 12 for a personal foul penalty against Iowa State but wasn't suspended, the conference announced Saturday. Replays showed Davis diving at the knees of Iowa State's Deon Broomfield during a Texas touchdown Thursday. "In accord with the conference's sportsmanship and ethical conduct policy, Mr. Davis' action was in violation of the rule prohibiting physically abusive acts toward an opponent's team members during a contest," Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. Bowlsby indicated a repeat could result in a suspension.

Agree, it was a cheap shot made after the TD.

I keep dreaming that sensible people will show up to coach the team against Oklahoma this Saturday.

1. Bench Mike Davis.
2. Run the ball.
3. Use the appropriate running back based on down and distance.
4. Sit a guy on the bench the first time he fumbles.
5. Call the appropriate play - based on down and distance.
6. Stop calling a blitz on obvious running plays.
7. Stop calling cover zero.

Guido - is this too much to ask?

I was at a sports bar in SoCal banging my head on the bar with all the running at IState. Then I read a quote the next day saying the running game wasn't there?

One writer pointed out, after running something like 60 yards on first td drive, next drive was 9 plays, 1 run for 7 yds, next drive stalls after 8 passes, no runs; next stalled drive 6 passes and 1 run of 8 yds.

The idiocy knows no bounds. My friends thinking they are just setting up the 0u game, when they will actually call proper down/distance plays. Just trying to convince sooners into overthinking the stupidity...

That should read lack of running on first line...

Who's in charge of teaching our WR's how to block? Whoever replaces Mack next year needs to replace that clown's [***posterior***] as well.

Damn, and I was ready to settle for two SI Swimsuit models showing up at my door naked. Your fantasy is way more unbelievable than mine.

Akina. The same guy who taught our DBs how to tackle. Same ineffective technique.

Public reprimand? Just a step above Dean Wormer's double secret probation.

October 6, 2013  10:07 PM ET

oh come on now. if you want the rule to have any teeth, suspend the guy. the rule should include that if a player is hurt due to the "physically abusive act", the offending player should be suspended for the season (12 games carried into the next season.) in other words, if you don't have the balls to enforce the rule, get rid of it.
