05:53 PM ET 10.06 | The Oakland Raiders are bringing David Carr to Northern California for a workout and physical. The Oakland Raiders demoted quarterback Matt Flynn to third string and are looking for a reliable backup quarterback. David Carr had been with the New York Giants but was released Saturday, Aug. 31, the day NFL teams have to make the final cuts to trim teams down to 53 men. The Raiders aren't the only team interested in David Carr either. The Tennessee Titans were considering bringing in Carr after Jake Locker went down and he reportedly worked out for the Titans on Tuesday.

Thing must be getting pretty desperate.

Two Raider QB threads back-to-back.

Are the regular interns furloughed?

In other news, Al Davis has returned in Zombie form, is roaming the Raiders' offices and making personnel decisions.

aka scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Again, the NCAA is simply unable or incapable of producing a sufficient number of NFL caliber QBs. David Carr? Why not just hold an open tryout a la Invincible?

I'd go with unwilling. Coaches are only interested in having their system executed the way they like it. They probably view QB "development" as a triviality that takes away valuable practice time for the upcoming game.

The man who has a breakdown when the fans boo too much? That ought to go well...

There's something about Vince that teams don't like and they're not saying.......

Whatever it is, it seems like teams are done with trying to find out for themselves whether he's worth taking the chance.

Not to forget JaMarcus Russell. Teams had better hurry before he packs the pounds back on and starts hitting the Purple Drank again.

Geeze! My 9 year old has more tread on his tires than David Carr. Yikes. Talk about desperate. Why not just get Kenny Stabler back. He'd be just as good of an option at age 67.

Actually, the Titans got in touch with him last week about a tryout, but Russell declined the offer because he's supposedly rehabbing a knee injury.

David Carr...lol.....better off going down to Wal-mart and seeing if you can buy one off the shelf

October 7, 2013  11:44 AM ET

LET PRIOR PLAY !!!
what is wrong with what he is doing ? he is 2-2 as a starter this year..
with the raiders the last few years.. he should be at god status at .500 !!

I think its fitting - for years, being a Raiders fan must be kind of like driving past a Carr crash - it hurts to watch them, yet you just can't turn away

Maybe, but it's worse being a Jags or Chargers fan because you're teams have both been beaten by the Raiders 'Carr crash'.

Time to re-sign Matt Leinart.
