Eakins riles up Edmonton's Oilers fans

07:26 AM ET 10.07 | Opening up the week as one of the NHL's five pointless teams isn't going to sit well in Edmonton, and it's not going to sit well with Dallas Eakins. [Eakins] was asked about the pressures of being in a hockey market -- a market that certainly doesn't take an 0-2 start lightly. "It's awesome," he said. ... "They care. And you know what? The city and the fans should be angry. As angry as we are and our players are feeling it, too. Listen, they're not walking around and high-fiving each other and having a big party. They're feeling it too. ... I've got no problem with people saying something or tweeting something or whatever they want to do. I'm fine with it because if you're upset by their criticism then you can't be okay when they're patting you on the back. I'm all for it, let it go two guns a-blazing."

RNH is coming back. That'll help a hell of a lot - Taylor Hall was -5 as a centre.

Devan Dubnyk's GAA of 6.52 and V% of .831 ain't helping.

A lot of his goals are Staypuft soft.

Consider the source. I've watched the press conference and heard what actually Eakins said and it made perfect sense. He's right on.

Only T&R can pull something like this and get away with it without consequences. The rest of us just get deleted and are sent to the dog house. Not fair.

If Eakins has any brains, he'll kicky Dubnyk up to the press box and forget he exists. And, if MacT has any brains (big IF), he'll start looking to trade for a real starter. There are several that can be had .... for the right price.

Just about every game, before the game is 10 minutes old, Dubnyk gives up a couple of softies. And, when the team gives him the lead, he blows it the next play in his end. Tears the heart out of the team. They have no confidence with him in net.

The going rate right now will be Edmonton's first rounder. Looking at the guys who might be available (Elliot, Hiller, Miller, mmmmmayyyyyybe Reimer but I doubt it right now), is that worth it?

Bryz in Edmonton by December?

He might want to start a Pros and Cons list.

Las Vegas - Edmonton should be the first entry.

Ninja'd. Dammit Slappy.

QUOTE(#11):

He did have a solid .920% last season but yeah they should trade for a "real starter".......then when Hall goes 2 games without a point they should trade him too eh.

Percentages don't tell the whole story. Not making the saves at the right time is a killer. Dubnyk can't. Case in point: Oilers give him a 1-0 lead against Vancouver. Next rush up the ice, Dubnyk gives up an awful goal. His five hole was as big as Pamela Anderson's beaver box.

I said Edmonton needs a starter .... not a project.

I think anybody that can stop the puck consistently is worth it a this point.

Unless ..... Edmonton is confident they can get that first pick overall in next year's draft. ;-)
