07:22 AM ET 10.08 | What if Joe goes? From the start, I've thought it's 70-30 he stays. But, let's say he decides to go. Who is next? With no clear-cut No. 1 candidate, this is admittedly premature, but let's take a look at who could take Girardi's spot. 1. Don Mattingly ... The Dodgers have yet to pick up Mattingly's option for next year, which has surprised some. Still, Mattingly seems to be popular with his bosses and is an NL Manager of the Year candidate. He is probably staying in Los Angeles, but, if not, he would be very popular with the Yankees fan base, which could be helpful over the next few years. Plus, Mattingly came in second to Girardi the last go around, at a time when he didn't have any managerial experience.

He was a dead man walking in LA (nobody walks in LA) until Puig saved him.

Yesterday - it was postulated that because the option hasn't been picked up - that they were going to let Mattingly go.....

So which is it....... you posting stories by what phase the moon is in?

I would be surprised if Dodgers don't extend Mattingly's contract, after post season.

Had exciting DS baseball last night, and what does fn give us?
Cano, and a refreshing change of pace, Mattingly as opposed to the 769th thread on Joe Girardi.
Die fn interns, die in innumerable painful ways.

fn not equal to fannation, means something else.
In case you were wondering

The Yankees are facing a major rebuild. not sure if Mattingly is the manager for ha job. Mattingly was maybe a week from being fired. He had a lot of talent in LA and had problem winning. Then Dogers brought up Puig and the Dodgers started winning like 32 of their next 40 games (something like that). The Yankees don't have that Puig guy in Yankee land.

It wasn't just Puig. Several hurt players got healthy along with Puig coming up.

Go Dodgers!!

The Yankees are getting old. with the key Yankees who play every day they make the Phillies look like a team of rookies. Gardner and Granderson are the kids on the team at 30 and 33 repectively . Cano if Yankees can work out a reasonable contract will be 31. CC and Tex(if he can stay off of DL)will both be 34. Stewart will be 33 the rest are between 35 to41

Shouldn't the "Baseball" nickname be reserved for someone who actually landed in the Hall of Fame? Given this guy's lack of of a plaque in Cooperstown, Donnie Osmond has the same right to be called Donnie Baseball.

The Gods of Baseball so named him and so it shall be forever more. " He shall be sent forth and be a beacon of light on a diamond, he shall be a good man, he shall be called Donnie Baseball."

Ya could look it up.
