07:29 AM ET 10.08 | There's a new sheriff in Edmonton, Dallas Eakins, and he's not shy about lineup changes -- even if it means sitting a popular player such as Ryan Smyth. The Oilers head coach said there were "four or five" forwards who could have been yanked from the lineup, and still might be if their habits don't change. "I could have had my pick of any one of them," said Eakins, who made good on his promise to start rattling cages if he didn't like what he saw, and he most certainly didn't in Edmonton's 6-2 loss in Vancouver. ... "I've already warned the players about this, it doesn't matter to me what the fan base thinks of you, if they hold you in high esteem, you have to have results," said Eakins. "If not, you're going to be held accountable. Smytty's out (Monday), we'll see how the rest of the week goes."

That, instead of Ryan Smyth, they're going to have pics of their cheerleaders in hot pink bikinis. :-)

Agreed. The kids finally woke up from the Devils' induced coma. Two very ugly periods. Watching NJ play is like is as painful as getting your scrotum caught in your jeans' zipper. They just absolutely bore you to death, hoping to steal a point or two.

Smyth should be out permanently. Jagr he is not. The game's left him way behind in every way. He be done like a Canuck Thanksgiving turkey. Stick a fork in him.

no kidding. The manager/coach used to be the boss, now a lot of them are afraid to essentially do their jobs, fo fear of offending the big free-agent that the owner HAD to have. That's one thing that even if you don't like "Ol' Three-Fingers" you have to give him credit for.

I swear guys, i'll hire Ron Wilson as an assistant."
