Cowboys to target McFadden?

With their Arkansas ties, Razorbacks running back Darren McFadden and Cowboys owner and former Razorbacks co-captain Jerry Jones have talked a few times. McFadden said he's heard all the rumors about a potential blockbuster deal positioning the Cowboys to select him. But for now, he isn't putting much stock in them. McFadden said he grew up a Cowboys fan and an Emmitt Smith fan. And his Arkansas backfield mate, Tulsa native Felix Jones, another potential first-round pick, echoed the sentiment.

What about Barber? I thought the Dallas offense was good enough w/o spending a 1st round pick on offense.

2 things... 1) This would be dumb. We need depth at CB and Saftey. 2) This is the second or third time Fannation has posted this. They REALLY need to get new info.

The reason this would make sense is McFadden is considered a franchise back. With your first pick you need to hit a home run. Having a backfield of McFadden and Barber would be very nice. But I don't think it would happen.

I'm not a dallas fan. IO think they need to concentrate on O-line or D-line. They don't need a running back. They have a good roster now. Jones, is just pandering to his old school.

Dallas....i'm a Jets fan......if hes still available come #6...take our pick and give us your two first rounders!!!! We need way more than just one pick!!

February 15, 2008  08:48 AM ET

What Jerry wants, Jerry gets. Must make the Redskins fans very jealous. Results. Any true NFL fan knows the draft is really made in the deep rounds. You can sure up the OL deeper in the draft. McFadden is a can't miss pick!

I'm a fan of taking the best overall talent in the draft and that's McFadden. Take him, trade him, trade Barber, it doesn't matter, take the best!

Listen, the only way the Cowboys are getting Mcfadden is by trading one of their late first round picks along with a player, most likely Marion Barber, to a team such as Miami. Parcells has already raided the Cowboys coaching staff rather successfully. If Jerry Jones makes this deal he may very well be getting a top RB, but also one with a history of injuries. The Cowboys need to add depth at CB and S first and foremost. A RB such as Felix Jones would make sense with one of their 2 first round picks to fill the void being left by Julius Jones. And by the way, MARION BARBER has scored 24 rushing TDs over the last two years...and there's a need to upgrade because????????

Dumping a good RB (Marion Barber) and signing a rookie that you hope is not a bust, to replace him?? Makes as much sense as hiring Zorn as your head coach.

Who gives a **** what Jerry wants. Once he wipes all the egg off his face for supporting the NFL Network this season, he will see he has no chance.

That's a ridiculous statement. Why would Jerry have egg on his face for supporting a product that will boost revenues for his own franchise?

The NFLN is a fledgling company, but if they win out the battle with Cable and Congress they'll be doing fine. What all that has to do with McFadden and the Cowboys is beyond me.

I just think that Jerry's face looks like the Michael Myers mask from Halloween.

If Jerry wants McFadden, he will get him. He has 2 #1 picks to deal.

And he is dumb enough to do it.

Well, three SB rings says a lot about a dumb businessman, doesn't it? Kraft must be a real idiot then. Building the most profitable football team in the NFL is real stupid too. Bringing in tons of revenue is insane.

February 15, 2008  09:51 AM ET

Why dont we get ride of Roy Williams and get a new line backer and we also need CB and saftey help and we will be steller

February 15, 2008  09:52 AM ET

It does, exactly. The guy is a cretin, but supporting the NFL Network is the correct business decision. They guy has business acumen. He does not have football acumen.

I reiterate; THREE RINGS. And don't bring up the whole "it's been 12 year thing" because how many, many years did your Pats go without a SB? At least the Cowboys have a history of winning consistently.

February 15, 2008  10:18 AM ET

Should we send Jerry Parcell's new number or possibly Al Davis' number (we just resigned Vargas and M. Bush is finally healthy) and we have either the #3 or #4 (depending on the coin flip) in the draft. Jerry, give me a call and I'll take one 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick and Barber.

February 15, 2008  10:23 AM ET

Running backs are a dime a dozen. Trading Barber and a pick for McFadden is just a waste of a pick when u need to make up for the lacking secondary and the aging receivers.
