Laviolette's next move

07:26 AM ET 10.09 | Now that the Flyers have moved on from Peter Laviolette, what becomes of him -- and is there now more heat on Paul Holmgren? For the moment Laviolette and his family are trying to stay below the radar. Obviously Laviolette is not happy with the way things ended with the Philadelphia Flyers so he may lay low. He wants to coach again in the NHL and given his resume it's believed that he will get another opportunity. If things don't materialize in the NHL say before Christmas, I'm told Laviolette would consider going over to Europe and coaching there. It's not too far-fetched that Laviolette and his family would consider that. ... There's no imminent danger for Holmgren and the belief is he will go out on his own terms and [Ron Hextall] ultimately would be his successor.

I think he will hang in 'Illadelphia awhile. I think his kid plays for Team Comcast, so he could just chill and watch/hang with him. I'm sure he is not hard up for sheckels

Better for him to just keep quiet and wait for the next offer which will certainly come before the season is over. Holmgren and Snider don't look too good in this whole mess IMO.

They're both blind?

Laviolette's next move

1) go to all the Flyer games and sit near the Owner's box and heckle
2) wait for Homer outside and punch him right in the nose
30 Sit and laugh that Snider still has to pay him

October 9, 2013  10:21 AM ET

Laviolette's next move ...

... the New York Rangers? The Vancouver Canucks?

Both jobs might be available by Christmas.

I like option 3. He's still getting paid so why worry?

He was the scapegoat for Snider and Holmgren so they don't get called to account for all their screw ups.

That's good, I was hoping for a couple of jobs for Christmas.

That's a relief. When you said they "didn't look too good" I thought they had trouble with their vision.

I understand. It was confusing. If it was a vision thing I would have said "they ain't looking good". A very nuanced difference. Us guys in the mountains, or pequenauds to you, ain't too eloquent 'bout that stuff.

I dunno - seems like Lav has a tendancy to lose the lockerroom after a few years of being coach. Happened with the Isles and it seems to have happened here with Philly.

He's a good coach, no denying that, and I'm sure he'll land a job soon. But maybe he just rubs people the wrong way.

He's got a lot more time to do Disco Dan's dirty work for the US Olympic team now....
