04:05 PM ET 10.09 | After an intense workout on Tuesday, Amar'e Stoudemire spoke to the press about the New York Knicks' season-opener with confidence. On Media Day, Amar'e was not as confident to say the least, but according to the power forward himself, he is optimistic that he may play in the team's final two preseason games and season opener on Oct. 30 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Stoudemire has yet to be cleared to participate in full basketball activities, such as scrimmaging or running full speed, but he has been doing various solitary basketball drills for the Knicks. Until Tuesday, it seemed unlikely that the former All-Star would be able to put on the blue and orange on opening day, especially since the team held him back from rehabbing aggressively until training to prevent any major setbacks.

Amar'e Stoudemire is the new Brandon Roy. Good for about 10 games, then out for the next 6. And don't count on him playing in back to back games either. It's sad to see an injury eat a player to the bone.

He better enjoy the next couple of year. His salary will drop like a rock.
