07:26 AM ET 10.10 | Though perhaps not as pressing considering the opponent, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn still has a decision to make before the tigers face Western Carolina this Saturday. [Nick Marshall] injured his knee late in the game against Ole Miss, an injury that he thought would not be that serious at the time. For most of the week, Marshall has been at practice, but he was rested Sunday, and Malzahn was asked whether or not his starter for the first five games would play if he was less than 100 percent on Saturday. "We'll make that decision probably [Thursday] or Friday." ... Malzahn was also asked if there was a chance that Marshall might not play on Saturday. "I would say there's a chance, probably not a very good chance, but there's a chance," Malzahn said. If Marshall can't go, Malzahn has not decided whether Jonathan Wallace or Jeremy Johnson would make the start in his place.

And a good mornin' TM. How'd you know I was awake?

Smart thing is to either rest him outright, or play him only two series then play the backups. This isn't exactly a top-level opponent.

Sure it is. The SEC only plays top-level opponents.

LOL, would you call Washington State a "top-level opponent"?? :-)

They are in a "BCS" conference so they are automatically "top-level".

Just to stir the pot (and incur JK's wrath): Has anyone else read Auburn's Never to Yield Foundation website and its scathing fulmination of 'Bama's ever-increasing pile of combustible violations? Wish I could link "Where There's Fire, There's Fire" article. Admittedly, they are the Crimson Tide's arch-enemy, but the organization and display of the allegations make pretty compelling reading.

We are talking about Western Carolina here, I don't think Gus is going to lose much sleep over who plays QB. The last string walk on could play and Aubie would still win.

The only problem is, USC is NOT a top-level opponent this year!!!
