07:12 AM ET 10.11 | Simply put, Christian Ponder doesn't know what his future holds. [Ponder] said he has been medically cleared to play Sunday and that the Vikings coaching staff has informed him and the other quarterbacks who will start against Carolina. Ponder deferred to coach Leslie Frazier to reveal that information, but it wasn't difficult to discern that Matt Cassel will make his second start in a row with Ponder serving as his backup. ... [Frazier] said he hasn't made a decision on his starter and that he plans to do so Friday. Frazier was told that Ponder disclosed that he knows the plan and that his body language and tone indicated that he's not the starter. "It's not an open competition, but I want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing," Frazier said.

So what yer saying is there's nothing to ponder about ?

If Cassel has a good game, it's going to be hard to bench him.

Got to stay with the hot hand (Cassel) .

It's only a matter of time. Wonder if he'll go to Ponder or Freeman?

They've gotta find out what they have in Freeman pretty quick.

The right thing in this case might be contacting a real estate agent.

Ponder would seem to be the odd man out at this point.

Does Bus Cook still represent that guy from Hattiesburg?

Cassel starts one more week, then regardless of what happens against Carolina, Freeman starts.

You don't pay a guy 3 mil to watch him practice with the second string.

Carolina would be a good team to give him a start; it seems like most Panthers games are scrimmages to begin with.

HAIL TO HE REDSKINS!!!

The defense had its moments last night, but they still allowed the GGGGMen to get back into the game late... and they couldn't cover Randle effectively.

A win is a win, but they need to step it up against competitive teams, too.

October 11, 2013  10:58 AM ET

Frazier made the statement after the last game no player loses their starting position because of injury. Now I believe what I was thinking all along that Frasier was nothing more than a Yes Boy and management was calling all of the shots with the proof that Cassel again was starting on Sunday.

It's a done deal, it won't surprise me to find out that Minnesota is shopping Ponder. Freeman is the quarterback for the Vikings moving forward. Once he's ready to assume the starter position Freeman will be inserted and Cassell assumes his intended role (backup) and Ponder is shipped to his next destination; wherever that may be. The business side of sports is a cold business, the bottom line is "you must get the job done." Look at the situation in San Francisco last season, out with Smith and in with kapernick. It's a cold business, you must produce to the team's expectations or your out. Freeman got the axe in Tampa Bay, Schaub will get the axe in Houston because the expectations of winning is larger than the players also the money that teams spend to obtain a player makes it that much easier to give up on a player. Michael Vick will be out in Philly if his backup can produce within the next few weeks.

Curtis Painter is the #2 QB. I don't suppose it could get much worse.

They should have signed Josh Freeman when they had the chance.
