10:10 AM ET 10.12 | When Texas and Oklahoma meet Saturday for the 108th edition of the Red River Rivalry, fans on both sides of the Cotton Bowl will arrive disgusted with what they've seen on the field this year. The disgruntled Longhorns are calling for the firing of their longtime head coach, Mack Brown. The frustrated Sooners are agitating for the ouster of -- their band director? That's right. The Pride of Oklahoma band, known for tormenting opposing fans by playing "Boomer Sooner" after seemingly every positive play, has now attracted the ire of its own. For months, fans have called for the removal of first-year band director Justin Stolarik. Detractors passed out fliers before one game imploring fans not to cheer during performances. And a group of OU alumni has pooled $600 to rent a billboard near Fair Park this weekend to call attention to their displeasure. Stolarik's opponents say he isn't qualified for the job, almost ruined the band's pregame routine and has failed to live up to its proud standards. "The performances are lackluster, they lack energy, they lack enthusiasm and they are boring," said Nick Nicholson, who played tuba in the band in the late '80s and early '90s. "It's like watching paint dry." The opposition to Stolarik began to escalate this summer when a video of a summer practice was posted on the band's alumni Facebook page. The clip showed several possible changes to the band's traditional pregame routine and an unpolished sound.

Who watches the band anyway, most people use the opportunity, when the band is on the field, to take a leak

They should lean to play more than "Boola Boola"

I hope this disgruntled tuba player eventually finds a job. Only $600 for a billboard sign. Hmmm? Maybe I will have one put up near my ex.

I know I will get some flak for this. But my old High School had and tradition that was over 75 years old, and a new band director came in and stop it with on with Wisconsin. She was told to go back to the old school song that had the blend of HAIL TO THE VICTORYS. She refused and wad FIRED on the spot. Or bands are a very big part of ones schools pride.

Maybe he works for the company that rents billboards.

Commission? That makes sense. Burma Shave signs need to be brought back. Much more effective, and makes the trip go faster.

Honestly, if the kid was any good they would have given him a trumpet. Tuba is where trumpet players go to die.

I'm surprised they can get $600 for any billboard near Fair Park.

All the Band Director has to do is a routine with every band member slinging a parade rifle over their shoulder and playing the theme song from " Have gun will travel." Those Okies will love it. Heck he will get a 10 year contract for big bucks and the band will receive funding from the NRA. Brilliant!

Coming from the north or coming from the south... a drive to Fair Park is always eye opening.

That would be the UT band going down with Captain Mack Brown at the helm.

Could you please rewrite this and correct the grammar errors that render it incomprehensible? I cant' tell which school you went to or what the band director did that was so awful.
