09:53 AM ET 10.13 | The A's have won back-to-back AL West titles, and the core of the team will be back - including key sparkplug Coco Crisp, the A's leadoff man and center fielder. Beane said Friday that "it's apparent" that the team will pick up Crisp's $7.5 million option for next season. The A's also might have the ace of their staff back: Free agent All-Star Bartolo Colon told The Chronicle on Friday that he would like to return to Oakland.

How About Fruity Pebbles, Bros?

I think Oakland is good enough to make it seem like they'll win a World Series but they don't have the pieces. The Cardinals proved with mistake-free baseball that the A's strength of geting on base and stealing just isn't plausible. If they re-sign Bartolo and add another two .270 batting avg players while dropiing some dead weight I would exchange them with the Red Sox at the top of the standings.

Don't understand the comment?
Sign an old overweight pitcher and a well-traveled CF who doesn't hit, and they can beat the Red Sox.
Really?

I don't know what kind of a message Beane would be sending to the team and its fans if he doesn't.

the A's had been able to win back to back division titles,
plus everything has being done with small players and
w/ the smallest payroll just like the Rays team :-) :-)
