Vikings likely to shop Christian Ponder

10:06 AM ET 10.13 | The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 29. Within the next 16 days, Christian Ponder's future with the Vikings should be decided. If fellow quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman are healthy, Minnesota is expected to try to see what it can get for Ponder, who lost his starting job to Cassel after an 0-3 start, coupled with Cassel's winning performance over Pittsburgh in London. If Cassel, 31, or Freeman, 25, who is expected to become the Vikings' starter before long, gets hurt, Ponder is expected to remain in Minnesota through the end of the season as the third-string QB. But there's no chance that Ponder will be with the Vikings in 2014.

Shop Until You Drop, Bros?

Here I though I was going to snag the first comment. Good person to lose it to at least.
Matt Cassel hardly has a poor injury record and Josh (though fickle) also carries a good injury record (though see if he doesn't bring MRSA with him), I can see a trade for Ponder, especially with his low salary and potential back-up capabilities but im not sure who would want him. His throwing mechanics are terrible (might be the coach in Minnesota, lets be honest, since the self-sufficient and teaching Brad Johnson left there hasn't really been an intelligent or efficient quarterback in Minnesota that they've previously had the chance to devlop) and his power is also pretty lack luster, even on the Matt Cassel scale.
tading within the division seems taboo (especially in the NFC north), I'd say Patriots, Falcons, Texans or Browns trade a 4th-5th rounder for the kid. Maybe Sanfran.

Total waste of a first round pick, and most knew this right away.

Yup... including most Viking fans.

Nobody will trade for Ponder when he's a free agent after the season. Same reason the Bucs couldn't find a taker when they wanted to deal him.

How was the concert?

this is a ridiculous follow up story to the more ridiculous viking move to get a troubled QB added in freeman. letting ponder sit while cassel started was a perfect move and keeping the three QB's they had was a smart thing. ponder is not to blame for any losses. the defense has sucked in 2 0f 3 losses maybe all three! Ponder got the vikings in the playoffs only last year for vikings god's sake ! Then what do the vikings do? Lose the dang playoff game before it even starts by using a not any good at QB-joe webb. WAKE UP COACH! Any fan can see that if they watched the games. getting freeman was just another stupid bone-headed viking management bad decision. they will never win doing these dumb moves at QB. As a long time fan, i see that ponder and cassel would have been plenty good and keeping bethel-thompson. I'm ashamed to say if Cassel slips one time, they will jerk him for the known loser freeman.

Outstanding... first hour concentrated on the first four albums. Second hour on the next 2-3. Final 45 minutes was all the expected stuff.

Got my money's worth.

It will take a lot of coupons to move that boy.

If there were no takers for Freeman, what makes them think there's a market for Ponder?

I suppose he'll wind up on the Island of Misfit QBs along with Matt Flynn and so many others.
