02:40 PM ET 10.14 | The College Playoff Committee has its chairman as the committee has named Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long to the position. There will be a news conference Wednesday to announce the entire 13-person committee. This committee is responsible not only for deciding which four teams are in the college football playoff, which begins next season, but also for deciding which teams will play in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl and Cotton Bowl. Much of the attention has been focused on Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that there has not been as much attention on the rest of the committee and how qualified or unqualified they might be.

So, who are they?

Not a fan of sitting AD's on a playoff selection committee. Too much pressure to vote along school or conference lines.

A **** is a horse designed by committee.

I can hear it now ...

Condi Rice gets all elitist and Archie Manning tells her to shut up ... then Weiberg asks "does a 1 loss SEC team deserve a spot more than an undefeated team from any other conference?" and Bary Alvarez tells him to get some new material ... then Mike Tranghese asks: "what about a Big East team?" and the whole room sighs ... then Tom Osborne complains that no one is listening to him ... then Lt. Gen. Michael Gould shouts out "I'm in charge here!"

Long can be unbiased....he's a yankee and we only have temporary/restricted SEC membership cards in Arky......No league love, except for LUS.

But he's still an employee of the guy who runs the university and he communicates with the other AD's in the conference and the commissioner too. I'm not convinced he'll say "scroo my boss and the commissioner I'll be unbiased."

I would expect committee members with ties to particular conferences would be excused from the room when deliberations/voting takes place for schools from their conferences.

Looks like the fix is in for the SEC to get their share of teams in the 4 team playoff.

As it should be.

THANK GOD the SEC is able to put their thumb on the scale. I was scared to death they'd have to deal with a level playing field!
