Much of KG's game now illegal

07:19 AM ET 10.15 | Through each of his preseason games with the Nets, Kevin Garnett has been whistled for a screen violation. [Garnett] calls himself the "best pick-setter in the league," and it's tough to argue against a player who doesn't give an inch while setting screens. The problem is that the NBA defines much of what Garnett does as illegal, considering his penchant for moving his body into the opponent after setting his feet. The league is using him as a poster-child in its pledge to crack down on such offenses. Garnett, 37, was the first example of a moving screen in the league's annual "points of emphasis" video for referees. Last season, the league pledged to emphasize flopping and undercutting jump shooters. This season, illegal picks are a focus. Garnett understands he'll have to adjust.

He was getting called for moving picks in the past. He'll adjust and this is no big deal. It was illegal back then and it's illegal now. It's just the stupid officials were just making too many exceptions back then. Just call the game fairyland equally. No star treatment...

Stupid dumb article. The title "Much of KG's game now illegal" could also be "Much of Karl Malone's game now illegal" or "Much of Kareem's game now illegal" and so on and on.

About time the league caught up with this fool's antics.........

Almost every single screen he sets is illegal. Not the physicality of it but the moving part of it

Not a fan of KG though, so there is that.....

QUOTE(#5):

I hate taking the physicality out of the game

I hate when obvious fouls are not called.

And Garnett's moving screens have always been fouls. They were just never called.

That's old school stuff. Who wants to see a team advance because they hurt an opposing star?

What if somebody catches a player of LBJ's stature and knocks him out for a few games and the Heat lose. Do we want this?

Picks are legal. You just aren't allowed to move into guys. This seems reasonable.

Agreed with all points!

Doesn't matter that you're not a fan. You still happen to be right!

Lookee here....one of the best defensive centers in the modern era, Alonzo Mourning, used to get hit with those moving picks everytime he set one. He'd never complain, just turn around, shake his head, and then trudge back down the court. They got him just about every time. Why should Garnett get a free pass to bust someone up with those illegal picks?

This too shall pass. Last year the refs were going to stop "flopping." Have you ever seen it called?
