07:24 AM ET 10.15 | When reporters were allowed in to watch a portion of Monday's practice, Kenyon Martin had his shoeless left ankle wrapped in ice. [But] he and the Knicks were quick to downplay that sighting as little more than a preventative measure. Mike Woodson said Martin took part in the majority of the team's earlier practice - but the veteran forward continues to be held out of team scrimmages as a precaution to try to keep him available for the regular season and beyond. "I understand it, maybe the younger Kenyon probably wouldn't have, but the more mature and older Kenyon understands what the goal is," Martin said. "They need me in April and May and definitely June." Martin sprained his left ankle near the end of the regular season last April.

The Knicks should be cautious, K-Mart is such an important and vital member of the cheerleading squad. Without him, who else is gonna wear a towel around his neck and wave a towel in the air the entire game?
