Football at Talladega?

07:32 AM ET 10.15 | With football officially slated for Bristol Motor Speedway, what's next? The Battle at Bristol should attract the biggest crowd ever at a college football game, has the potential to be a prime revenue generator and seems like a recruiting bonanza. Just don't expect to see Alabama or Auburn playing at Talladega Superspeedway because of it. ... A football field would fit easily in the tri-oval grass at Talladega Superspeedway, which, at 2.66 miles around, dwarfs Bristol. However, the grandstand along Talladega's frontstretch doesn't match Bristol's seating capacity. "The problem is Talladega doesn't seat 165,000," [Dr. Jerry Punch] said. "It'd be great to think about that, but you'd really have to find a creative way."

It'll never happen for the most obvious reason - the scalpers would take a bath with the extra seats.

Bristol halfway makes sense - it's halfway between Knoxville and Blacksburg, and at least some of the seating would be decent for a temporary football field. Talledega is just too sprawling.

This is going to be hard to pull off-who is going to pay regular ticket prices to be so far away from the game?

Eliminates any home field advantage when there's a disconnect between the players and their fans.

Maybe they'll give a discount for mullets and let them park their meth trailers on the infield.

Bistol makes sense because it is a small type track with the seating very close to the action. Talladega does not make sense.

Yes. The new Webber Spaceman Grill has a built in oxygen tank with special rocket fuel capacitors to meet all your orbital needs. It is on sale now at a Sears Store near you.
