Pat Knight, the son of Hall of Famer Bob Knight, is already brainstorming on how to build on the struggling Texas Tech program he inherited from his father, including going back to his roots to recruit players from Indiana. Unlike his dad, he could even be willing to chase after the top players who might stay in college for only one season.

It's going to be very difficult to walk in Dad's shadow.

Fair, NO!!! but true.

EXCELLENT! Son of a legend. IU never should have fired Knight. Those kids can get over having their arms grabbed. The strangling deserved a punishment but not a firing. And how many sanctions did he have at IU? That's what I thought.

Knight should not have been fired? You have to be kidding? If a teacher at a university acted the way Knight did they would have been tossed out a long time ago. Any other job, you grab someone around the Knight you're fired.

Or you could just recruit Texas kids because certainly that state produces more talent in any sport than Indiana, but go ahead and leave those good ones for Okie State.

Sorry but no kid who is good enough to go to the pros in one year is going to go to Texas Tech. At least now now. Maybe in a few years if he's built up the program, but not right now.

As an Indiana fan I hope Pat Knight does well.

I wonder how the brass at IU are enjoying the publicity these days ..... Funny I don't remember all this publicity when Knight was there.

At least the program itself was never threatened to be sanctioned.

Why would you want that type of player anyway? Ok State almost landed Gerald Green who opted for the NBA but one year of him wouldn't have been enough. I think if I were a college coach I'd rather have the kid who needs at least three seasons under me before moving on..

I'm happy for Pat, but no Indiana kid (that is good) would pass up an opportunity to play for the Hoosiers, by going to TTU.

I believe Indiana produces great high school talent! It is unfortunate that so much of it left the state. McRoberts, Oden, and Conley all left. Gordon was about to leave, but decided to stay. If those three guys would have stayed...i think another two championship banners could have been added in Bloomington.

GO PAT, WE SUPPORT YOU 100%. Your father, Coach knight is my hero! I grew up in a very troubled family and was able to overcome the odds by just following your dad's wisdom, integrity and beliefs. Maybe if our country had some discipline we would not be in the shape we are in today.
