NBA's best offseason pickup

07:19 AM ET 10.16 | 'Tis the season for checking in with new names in new places, and Andrei Kirilenko qualifies as a name worth watching. For the money ($3.1 million), Kirilenko may have been the summer's best free-agent pickup. And the 32-year-old should return to the form he displayed early in his career with the Jazz, when he was a whirling dervish of defensive chaos-making. This was before the Jazz became the team of Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer, and Kirilenko was reduced to a sideman. This was before the injuries and the self-doubt and everything that has made a lot of people forget how good AK-47 was. Playing alongside the Nets' menagerie of talents, Kirilenko will do what he does best -- stuff the stat sheet, especially on defense, with a couple of blocks and few steals.

In the tradition of talking about offensive names.........

How long will it take for someone to find AK-47 offensive ???

Best pickup, Ian Clark, Utah Jazz - you'll see.

$3 million my arse! He is getting money under the table in Russia. That's not illegal and there is no way of proving it.

Roger Mason could be the great pick up.

In other words, you have nothing to back this statement up with...

That may be so, but there are so many iffy deals in the NBA, happens all the time. The Lebron, Wade, Bosh strategy, Lakers getting Pau, NBA nixing CP3 deal to LA, players getting "released" and somehow ending up with same or favorable teams.

Just from a talent wise, AK-47 was the best off season acquisition.

He's standing over the vent of the famous Marilyn Monroe pic.

Dwight was the best pick-up? Overpaid and overhyped. The best pick-up was Iggy going to Golden State.

Well yes. I meant Best value. Talent for the money.
Otherwise I would put Howard, Iggy, Ellis, Jennings, Milsap all much ahead of AK.

Have always like AK-47, thought he had the coolest handle in the NBA. A selfless player with crazy defensive skills a willing to rebound. Thought he was kept in Utah far too long after he expressed the need to bolt town. But he came back and hooked up with the T-Pups. Now it's time to once again play with the BIG Boys. Not sure that the hometown Brooklyn folk will be able to appreciate what AK brings to the table, but the one thing I can say the NETS won't be IS BORING!
