05:24 PM ET 10.16 | Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks was given the franchise take this offseason. Like most players who are "fortunate" enough to receive the big single-season pay day he wasn't thrilled. While the pay is fully guaranteed and usually good, it comes with inherent risks. Starks could be injured hurting his leverage in negotiations. The other side of that coin is the belief that players always play especially well in contract years. Starks is playing incredibly well this season, he credits it to the rotation of defensive lineman keeping him fresh. There could be another motivating factor as well - his contract.
