Will Monroe wind up on the block?

07:23 AM ET 10.18 | All's quiet on the Greg Monroe's contract front. [There's] nothing to report. It's highly likely that the fourth-year power forward won't receive a contract extension from the Pistons before the Halloween deadline, meaning Monroe will be a restricted free agent next off-season. But don't misunderstand the move. At this point the Pistons still consider Monroe a huge part of their rebuilding effort, but the circumstances suggest the team would be better off letting the season play out. ... The situation works for Monroe because things can change. What if [Andre Drummond] is hurt or Monroe outplays Drummond this year? Circumstances could change where the Pistons would be open to offering Monroe five years. Or Monroe could be linked to trade rumors if the grouping with Drummond and Josh Smith isn't working.

He is good but not a max. He will really help a contender for sure. Dallas should go after this guy right now before he hits free agency.

If the backcourt can play well, the Pistons front court is pretty solid (on paper)......I hoping for the best with the Pistons...

They'll trade him and get something solid in return I'm sure from a team desperate for a solid PF unless a team like the Bobcats are dumb and desperate as always and pawn off their 1st rounder for him.

Agreed.....he's not a max player; and he will help a contending team that is weak in the post (OKC).

But I think his greatest impact will be felt if he goes to a 'good' team. He's the type of 'missing piece' player that can turn a good team into a contender.

If the Bobcats can get him for a 1st round pick.....that would be a good pick-up!

Especially when you consider that he's only 23 years old and is a PROVEN 16 points, 10 rebounds per game player.

Come To LA, Bro.

2 words and I'm out: BIG Mistake.

I don't see how Detroit is going to make the playoffs this year. I just don't see how all the pieces fit together right now. That frontcourt may be formidable defensively, but they are just not good enough on the offensive end. Drummond still needs a LOT of improvement offensively.

I agree.....

Detroit is a hodge podge of players- and I do not think very much of their coach.

you need glue guys and good role players in this league- guys that do the dirty work and defend and offensive rebound, and guys that shoot 3's and pass the ball and can shoot a solid % on FT's.

While Detroit has some very talented- Jennings, Smith, Drummond, Monroe- none of these guys are very good passers, they really do not shoot FT's well for their respective positions, none of them is really great at outside shots, Jennings and Smith are both very undisciplined players even though they both have big time talent.

they should make a trade with Boston

Jennings and Monroe and Villanueva--- for Rondo, Bass, Lee

Boston getse rid of the multi-years on Bass and Lee's deals- they get a PG that is solid and a very good center

Detroit gets the player that makes them a team and pulls it all together in Rondo- gets value for Monroe while getting 2 solid vets in Lee and Bass to make the team a playoff team

Detroit looks like
PG- Rondo
SG- KCP
SF- Singler
PF- Smith
C- Drummond

with a solid bench of Lee, Bass, Jerebko, Stuckey, Will Bynum...
